Built on a countryside property nestled in the woods, the design intent was that the feature should look as natural as possible, and seem like it had always been a part of the existing landscape.
With dimensions of approximately 20 by 30 feet with a depth of 5 feet, it is constructed mainly with fieldstone reminiscent of the Canadian Shield, with antique hand-chiseled limestone from the clients’ collection re-purposed as stairs for entry into the pond. It includes underwater and garden lighting to provide the opportunity for night-time enjoyment.
The resulting feature not only provides function and aesthetic appeal, but also important ecological services.
